Sarah Palin Superwoman?
September 23, 2008 by Nelida
Since Sarah Palin’s nomination was announced I’ve had SERIOUS doubts as to whether she actually gave birth to her son Trig, or if instead, he is actually her daughter Bristol’s child. Below is some information I was able to gather.
Sarah Palin announced her pregnancy on March 6th, claiming she was 7-months pregnant. Her aides and co-workers were shocked as she certainly didn’t appear pregnant. On April 18th, newspaper reports said Trig Palin was born a month premature yet weighed over 6 pounds. Coincidentally, it was during this time that Palin’s daughter Bristol, 17, was taken out of high school for 5-8 months citing mononucleosis.
Any mother of more than one child will tell you that typically a female body does not become fitter with each successive pregnancy. Usually, the exact opposite occurs; a woman gains more weight more quickly with each successive pregnancy. In Palin’s case, she had had four prior pregnancies, and yet with this one she wasn’t showing at all in her 7th month; call me suspicious, but that seems highly unlikely to me. Palin is a perfectly healthy woman, but she is far from petite, and I simply can’t believe she would be able to hide a third trimester pregnancy from anyone with a set of eyeballs.
Of note, the day after a Newsweek conference entitled “Newsweek: Women & Leadership”, Palin issued a statement on her pregnancy, of which she hadn’t made a single mention during the entire presentation. Newsweek host Karen Breslau was particularly surprised by the announcement:
At the time, “I didn’t know that Palin, clad in a loose, dark dress, was seven months pregnant with her fifth child. An aide called me the next day to tell me that Palin would be announcing the pregnancy at home in Alaska and that she had wanted me to know as a courtesy. She was sorry she hadn’t mentioned it the night before”.
Some might argue that was an extraordinarily convenient omission which allowed Palin to deftly avoid questioning of any sort before, during, or after the presentation in Los Angeles, and this wasn’t the only video of Palin that caused a few raised eyebrows when it was later revealed that she was pregnant during filming. A video presented by Alaska HDTV showing Palin hiking around Juneau, Alaska (and standing in high heels no less) resulted in Alaska HDTV issuing the following statement:
“Regarding her pregnancy, all I can say is that it was not obvious to the three of us who were there during the filming.” At this time she would be somewhere in her 7th month of pregnancy, which could be hidden with clever clothing, jackets, etc.
These videos, or rather Palin’s pregnant appearance in them, stand in stark contrast to video of Palin when she was pregnant in 1989 working as a Sports News Journalist. Even her facial features are altered in these images; a common side-effect of pregnancy that Palin miraculously avoided during her pregnancy with Trig.
Now lets look at the alleged ‘pregnancy’ itself; an obstetrician commented in a Talking Points Memo that he has serious issues with Palin’s decisions:
“She claims she flew from Texas to Anchorage after she was having contractions and leaking amniotic fluid. This simply doesn’t make sense. I am a physician and I deliver babies (my last delivery was about 36 hours ago)…. There is very little chance that a 44 year old woman who was pregnant with her fifth child would last 8 hours with ruptured membranes and contractions. Especially when the baby was approximately 4 weeks early; She would have delivered this baby on the plane… Playing the back seat doctor here, my advice would have been get in the car and go to the nearest hospital with a maternity ward. This is called Premature Preterm Rupture of Membranes (PPROM) and it is dangerous.”
Here’s the timeline:
10:30pm – Palin arrives in Anchorage (approximately 22 hours after her membranes had ruptured, 12 hours would be cause for worry).
11:30pm – Palin checks into Mat-Su regional in Wasilla, Alaska.
Mentioned below the statement, is the revelation that after landing in Anchorage, Palin drove past both Providence and Anchorage Regional Hospitals, facilities ideal for premature deliveries, as both are equipped with neonatal intensive care units. In fact, it seems very strange that she wouldn’t have immediately checked herself into Providence, which has the highest level of maternity care in the state, as it seems you would want a child with genetic defects to be delivered in a larger facility with more services available. It also seems incredibly poor judgment for a woman who is leaking amniotic fluid to hop on a plane, even if she wasn’t aware that the child she was carrying had a genetic disorder, but particularly poor judgment if she was.
The doctor who supposedly approved of Palin taking such risks, and later delivered Trig? Cathy Baldwin-Johnson, who has since been scrubbed from the Mt-Su Regional Medical Center website. Web Archive shows her at the top of the scrubbed list. Palin’s relationship with Cathy has formed over the years, and in 2002, when Palin was Mayor, Cathy was named Family Physician of the Year. In May 2007, then Governor Palin appointed Cathy to the Alaska Health Care Strategies Planning Council, as evidenced by a scrubbed State Press Release. Seemingly, special connections for special friends.
Mat-Su Regional, the hospital where Trig Palin was delivered, surprisingly does not list Trig on their list of babies born in that facility on April 18th. A peculiar oddity, as hospitals are usually proud when a local celebrity gives birth within their facility. Subsequently, Palin was back to work within 3 days of the “delivery”.
Which brings us back to Bristol Palin, the rightful mother of Trig Palin? Over the course of seven months, Bristol had three separate driving offenses, one for failure to carry insurance, one for speeding, and another one for a collision. As a sixteen year-old driver, incidents such as these happen all the time. However, it is noteworthy that these incidents occurred during the five to eight month period in which Bristol was out of school with ‘infectious mononucleosis’, a time which also corresponds to that in which her mother was supposedly pregnant. Further, the collision for which she was cited occurred in front of a Family Medical Center. The police statement reads:
Wasilla Police Department: On February 8, 2008, at 1737 hours, Wasilla Police responded to two vehicle collision at Seward Meridian Parkway and Fireweed Drive. Investigation revealed that Bristol Palin, age 17 of Wasilla, was driving a 4-door sedan and attempted to turn into a business when she struck a 2-door sedan driven by Joshua Moffet, age 19, of Wasilla. Palin was issued a citation for Failing to Use Due Care to Avoid a Collision. Moffet was issued a citation for an expired registration and no proof of insurance.
Out of school and in a fender-bender while turning into a Family Medical Center… am I the only one who finds this suspicious, particularly in light of Palin’s figure while seven months pregnant? While none of this is proves anything, it does and should raise some questions. Particularly if Palin has in fact usurped her daughter’s motherhood for political points. Bristol Palin, and the public at large deserve the truth from Sarah Palin. If Palin is in fact perpetrating such a charade on the national stage in this day and age, I hope I’m not the only one who would find it pathetic. Why, if all of this is nonsense won’t Palin make a statement and remove any doubt. I simply wish a real investigation by a creditable news source would look into it. I’m not attacking Palin; in fact if I had a penis, I couldn’t raise ANY of these questions without being labeled a sexist pig, but I can’t help but think that had this been a Clinton family issue there would have been a joint house and senate investigation followed by another Ken Starr bestseller, and were this one of Obama’s daughters, particularly if there was also a black father in the picture… well, let’s just say I don’t think the press would be so kind as to ignore the issue.
